JOIN OUR FUNDRAISING TO BUILD A COMMUNITY SKILLS CENTER IN UGANDA'S IMPOVERISHED SLUMS

I am Eddy Balina; I was born 26 years ago in the slum community of Jinja where we are now working to address the predominant problems of poverty and violence. Growing up in a violence ridden community and going to a school where I was a victim of violence, motivated me to start The Non-Violence Project Uganda together with my friends in order to create the change we want to see.

Over the years, our organization has grown into a reputable and impactful initiative transforming lives of hundreds of people in Busoga sub region through education and skills empowerment. We run a schools for peace outreach program empowering students with life skills and knowledge on how to solve conflicts peacefully, we established a community school currently offering formal primary education to 134 vulnerable and orphan children in the slum of Budhumbuli in addition to a community empowerment center we established in April 2016.

Through the Community Empowerment Center over 321 Youths and women have been equipped with vocational and hands on skills which enable the start small businesses as well as enhancing their employability. The skills include Tailoring and fashion design, computer skills and repair, catering, hair dressing and product making (Jelly, bar/liquid soap, shoes, paper bag etc.) interwoven with business management skills. Our project beneficiaries are mostly teenage mothers that have often lost hope, dropped out of school and are stigmatized in the community, through skills empowerment they are able to use the acquired skills to create decent livelihood.

The Purpose of this fundraiser is to in you our friends, partners, well-wishers to consider making a financial contribution toward the construction of a permanent skills training center in the heart of Bugembe community. Through the local contributions we have acquired prime land near our rented premises and we believe it is time to take the big leap and move to our own premises. Building our own center will not only cut the rent cost but also increase our capacity in terms of space to train more young people and women consequently 120 persons will be trained every 3 months.

Kindly consider supporting this noble cause, also invite a friend to donate. Together we can do this. I thank you
